IX SHELLS
DIODE, 2021

Itzel Yard (b. 1990), also known as IX Shells, is a self-taught generative artist based in Panama, skilled in curatorial projects, creative concept design and experimental art. Her constant research is fueled by a sense of rhythm, passion and wonder. Her love for computers started from a very young age with video game missions. These quests turned into riddles and seeds of real-time visions of what surrounds us. And eventually the patterns found within the darkest alleys of our minds became a quest for parallels. IX Shells has been creating digital art collections since February 2021. One of the most significant project in her career was creating the piece Dreaming AT Dusk in favor of Tor’s Project to support journalists, whistle-blowers and human rights defenders. This auction rocketed IX Shells to the forefront of female artists working in the NFT space.

LIA
The Remnants of Movement, 2021

Once upon a time there was a big field of color, and everyone was happy. Taking inspiration from the Color Field movement that emerged in American painting in the mid-twentieth century, The Remnants of Movement is a meditation upon aesthetic trends and the fashioning of experience that they bring about. As with the majority of her oeuvre, LIA’s piece the matises the interdependence of audience and work. She presents color fields not as large, solid areas of canvas, but as patterns of shifting relationships. Everything is in motion, and depending on where you look, sometimes the picture plays tricks on your eyes.

Austrian artist LIA is considered one of the early adopters of software and net art and has been producing works since 1995. Her practice spans across video, performance, software, installations, sculpture, projections and digital applications. LIA’s works combine traditions of drawing and painting with the aesthetics of digital images and algorithms, characterized by a minimalist quality and by an affinity with conceptual art. She focuses on the translation of certain experienced principles into abstract forms, movements and colors in order to allow the viewer to explore the same on a subconscious level.

Zach Lieberman
Circle Glow Study, 2021

Circle forms exploration

These artworks are results of Zach Lieberman’s daily sketches, short animated poems created with code that he’s been posting daily since 2016.  These sketches explore light, color, generative form, and expressive movement.

Zach Lieberman is an artist and educator based in New York City. Lieberman creates artwork with code with a focus on building experimental drawing and animation tools. He makes interactive environments that invite participants to become performers. Lieberman’s main focus is how computation can be used as a medium for poetry.

Nicolas Sassoon
RIFT, 2021

RIFT is a digital animation created using a moiré patterning technique, consisting in the overlap of two images to generate the illusion of a third image. In my practice, this imaging technique is employed to create abstract textural works inspired by atmospheric, geological and natural forces. In RIFT, images of landslides, tectonic plate movements and 3D normal maps were used as visual references for the final work. The resulting animation appears on screen as an endless hypnotic surface with strong kinetic and optical properties – similar to an all-over painting – generating tensions and oscillations in the perception of depth and flatness within the screen. At large, RIFT relates to many histories of abstraction in painting, optical art, moving image and computer graphics. Geological forces become mediated through a language of digital abstraction, creating an experience reminiscent of both the natural and the digital.

Nicolas Sassoon is a Franco-Canadian artist using early computer graphics to create a wide array of pixelated forms & figures, moiré patterns & architectural structures. This focus on early computer graphics is driven by the sculptural, material and pictorial qualities of this imagery, as well as its limitations and its poetics. Over the last decade, Nicolas has often engaged in cross-disciplinary projects online (Computers Club, Wallpapers, Signals), in electronic music (New Forms Festival), fashion (Balenciaga, UNIQLO, Wings & Horns) and contemporary art. His work has been exhibited in numerous art institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art (US), Vancouver Art Gallery (CA), Victoria & Albert Museum (UK), Centre Pompidou (FR), House of Electronic Art Basel (SW), MU Eindhoven (NL), Chronus Art Center (CN), the Berlin Fashion Week (DE) and the New-York Fashion Week (US).

Alida Sun
Sonnen sinn spektrum, 2021

A generative exploration of fluid dynamics, solar energy and sensual expression, socially charged from centuries of gazes encoded to the age of algorithms. In nature all colors are one seen in different states of motion; this shifting body-environment invites viewers to revel in this surface contradiction.

Alida Sun is an artist and intersectional futurist based in Berlin and New York. For over 900 days and counting she has created and published a new generative artwork. Sun is the first artist in history to integrate generative art, large scale installation, blockchain technology and live performance. Her current studio practice focuses on assemblage, fluid dynamics, time crystals and experimental humanities.

Anne Vieux
~gleam~, 2021

In ~gleam~ layered gestures and distortions shift upon a colorfield in an infinite loop. Forms and colors are derived by physically manipulating holographic, or light refracting material, over a scanner. In consideration of historic color field painting, gestural application and consideration of surface through light and pixels as fluid mediums.

“Layers of gestures and material transformations are compounded into an aqueous all-over composition. Emphasis on sensation and perception are evident in the personal painterly language that expands throughout my practice. I explore making overlooked transitory or peripheral moments, in hopes to make the invisible- visible.”

Anne Vieux is an American artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her painting-based practice extends into sculpture, video, artist books, nfts and site installations. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums internationally. Vieux's work is included in public collections including, Newcomb Art Museum, MoMa Library, The Met Library, and numerous university libraries.
