Vellum LA presents an exhibition of Maggie West’s groundbreaking immersive installation, Eternal Garden at SVStudios on Sunday, August 29th. The exhibit will be open for one day only, from 1-6 PM.

Eternal Garden is a surreal digital landscape created by combining colorful time-lapse photography. Throughout the pandemic, West photographed flowers from her garden under a spectrum of colored lights, capturing the growth process while altering the visual properties of each plant. The footage was then combined into surreal floral landscapes; blooming and evolving before the viewer’s eyes.

The artist’s groundbreaking animation process extends beyond the boundaries of traditional time-lapse photography and allows her to create complex, surreal ecosystems inside an immersive video experience. The exhibition will include sound design by Things You Say. NFTs from Eternal Garden will be sold on Nifty Gateway starting September 4th, 2021.

Maggie West is known for creating vivid photographs and installations using experimental lighting and bold colors to capture genuine expressions in artificial environments. All coloration is done in camera with lighting, rather than in photoshop. West strives to create work that is visually compelling and gives the viewer a new perspective on the subject matter.
