Postgender opened a conversation about postgenderism among artists, collectives, curators, and audiences, and asked viewers to rethink the foundations of our social structures and interactions. Presented with NFT Biennial and UnicornDAO, it was shown at Vellum LA on Luma Canvas LED displays and online in the NFT Biennial Metaverse.

Human after all. A collective of creatives moves past the paradigm of defined terminology into a transhumanist manifesto. We are the new undefined state of gender, one that presents fluid utopic dynamics in shaping oneness. What if we, as a culture, moved past traditional gender roles into new states of identity? What would we call it?

As technology and art pave the way for identities that thrive in safe spaces beyond our physical bodies, we are anything we wish to be. The exhibition explored what it means for a collective of individuals to develop a new language to overcome archaic gendered narratives.

Postgenderism as a cultural phenomenon originates in feminism, masculism, and movements such as androgyny, metrosexuality, and transgenderism. The integration of transhumanist philosophy has allowed postgenderists to imagine significant morphological changes in humans and new forms of reproduction. In this sense, postgenderism is a branch of transhumanism, posthumanism, and futurism.

It offers a lens on the potential for greater personal freedom in an era of rapid technological change: a future where individuals are freed from rigid gender roles, and the focus shifts from predefined categories to the diverse ways people experience and express their humanity. By moving beyond binary notions of gender, new forms of relationship, community, and social norms become possible. The works in Postgender imagined a future where being human is defined not by gender, but by shared experience and collective intelligence.
